Sip on delectable vino and bask in the excitement of the 104th Tour de France.
Mr. Luxury Ski
Greg Van Wagner, Wine Director of Jimmy’s in Aspen, Colorado, shares an equal love for cycling and wine. As an avid rider, he is passionate about the Tour de France, a 21-stage bicycle race that runs this summer from Saturday July 1st to Sunday July 23rd.
For the 104th Tour de France, Wagner will be honoring the race with a month long promotion at Jimmy’s, titled appropriately the Tour du Vin. For each day of the tour, Greg will serve exclusive wine, including Lambert de Seyssel, Domaine d'En Segur, and the Petit Aout at $14 a glass. Each decadent wine comes from the specific vineyards in the towns the race runs through, including Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg, and of course, France.
“It is important for me in creating this program that we aim to source as close to the location as possible,’” said wine and cycling enthusiast Greg Van Wagner.
The 2017 race will go through 34 countries just in France, covering a total distance of 3,540 kilometers.
“I will be pouring products that the race LITERALLY passes through or are produced in the start/finish town,” expressed Wagner.
The exclusive wines being offered by Wagner are not available anywhere else in the state of Colorado.
Be sure to "race" to Jimmy’s during the month long promotion, because the Tour du Vin is only open to the first 12 customers per day who are fast enough to claim their wine prizes. Just like in the real race, those who drink the most glasses of wine during the Tour du Win will receive a Maillot Jaune, the symbolic yellow jersey worn by the leader of the Tour de France.
If you want an authentic taste of Europe's finest wines while simultaneously celebrating the Tour de France, head over to Jimmy’s and celebrate some of the world’s best athletes with a glass for every stage of the race.
