Mr. Luxury Ski

Warm up for a day of Idaho heli-skiing with laps on Sun Valley's Bald Mountain (a.k.a. Baldy) followed by a White Cloud massage at the resort's sparkling new spa. The treatment starts with aromatherapy—Mr. Luxury Ski went with Frankincense for a meditative mood—before a healing massage and an exfoliating body polish.

After laps on Baldy, watch the sun set over the mountain from The Spa at Sun Valley.

This mountain retreat is 80 years in the making, debuting in Winter 2016 as part of the re-imagined Sun Valley Lodge. This ski country classic was built in 1938 by Gilbert Stanley Underwood, the architect behind the iconic lodges of the National Parks like Yellowstone’s Old Faithful Lodge. The new incarnation of his Idaho masterpiece maintains many of its original charms, including the mountain-view Sun Room, an outdoor ice rink, retro bowling alley. The fireplace lobby is expanded by a bright window terrace and opens to a clubby lounge hung with original art and modern sculpture.  Also brand new are 108 guest rooms and suites ranging from 400 to 950 square feet with gas fireplaces and big marble bathrooms.

Sun Valley's classic circular pool is expanded and adds a steamy hot tub.

The two-story, 20,000-square-foot Spa at Sun Valley is a new build, extending from the lodge and with its own circular entry drive. Towering granite slab fireplace bookend the entry, and a private elevator accesses the kitted out locker rooms, yoga studio, beauty salon, and 15 treatment rooms. Baldy views from the circular pool or the sun-drenched relaxation lounge complete a sybaritic après-ski treat and focus the mind on tomorrow's powder turns.
