Mr. Luxury Ski
Olympic gold medalist and four-time World Cup Giant Slalom champ Ted Ligety grew up shredding the three resorts ringing Park City, Utah. He tells us where to ski in the tony town.
Ski Report: “You can get as gnarly as you want on the east face of Park City Mountain Resort’s Jupiter Peak—or simply “The Peak” as it’s known locally. From the top of Jupiter Lift it’s about a 15-minute hike along the ridge to the top, where you can drop into steep chutes like 51-50 and Machete or carve powder in Puma Bowl.”
Lunch: “One of the best things about Park City is that you can ski right into town for lunch. I slide into Davanza’s for a slice of pepperoni and then hop on the Town Lift to get right back on the slopes."
Gear up: “Everything you need, from ski techs to tune your sticks to the latest gear, is at Jans. You can even pick up the new Shred Half Brain helmet that I helped design."
Après: “Warm up with a Campfire Whiskey at High West Distillery & Saloon, a ski-in spot in a historic building at the bottom of Quittin’ Time trail."
Dinner: “The salmon at chef Ari Yoked’s Reef’s is fantastic! It’s pan-seared and served over a delicious sauce with tomatoes, green chilies, cilantro, and cumin. Everything on the menu at this Mediterranean restaurant is terrific."
